JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for motivated Freelance Digital Production Assistants to be a part of a groundbreaking online news-team for FoxNews.com & FoxBusiness.com. As a Freelance Digital Production Assistant, you can handle a fast-paced environment and are creative, flexible and have a ”can-do” attitude. You are willing to learn, enjoy collaborating with a team and are eager to advance within the company.

Shift schedule & working hours will be based on department needs, but the flexibility and ability to work weekends and evening shifts are ideal.

• Audience Development

• Producing multiple assigned multimedia articles a day in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Adhering to detailed SEO requirements

• Incorporating edits from supervisors

• Communicating with news professionals in an assignment desk setting

• Entertainment

• Story research

• Assist entertainment team by pitching stories and pulling in wire and partner content

• Create and update slideshows to capture important and compelling events

• Monitor social media platforms and forums for the latest breaking or trending news items of interest to Fox News Entertainment readers

• Flash

• Cut video from Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network shows for use in articles or the homepages of FoxNews.com and FoxBusiness.com

• Monitor Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network programming for compelling newsmakers/segments that can be featured on FoxNews.com and FoxBusiness.com

• Multitask on tight deadlines in high-pressure environment

• Prioritize assignments and meeting deadlines

• Homepage and Social Media

• Write headlines for FoxNews.com & FoxBusiness.com homepages for all content verticals

• Utilize real-time analytics tools to determine desired content placements

• Monitor live streams and press conferences for use on the FoxNews.com & FoxBusiness.com homepages

• Coordinate presentation of still photos as well as montages/collages/photo illustrations and slideshows

• Lifestyle

• Researching, writing, and producing multiple assigned short articles a day in lifestyle topic areas a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Selecting and adding multimedia features to articles (video, images, slideshows)

• Adhering to detailed article templates and word counts

• Producing compelling photo montages and illustrations

• News Desk

• Story research

• Assist editors by pitching stories and pulling in wire

• Write headlines for FoxNews.com & FoxBusiness.com homepages and social media for all content verticals

• Utilize real-time analytics tools to determine desired content placements

• Originals

• Cut video from Fox News Channel & Fox Business Network shows for use on Fox News Digital platforms & YouTube

• Work closely with the Graphics Production team in finding and creating custom elements for Fox News Digital platforms

• Monitor Fox News Channel & Fox Business Network programming for compelling newsmakers/segments that can be featured on our sites

• Pitch, pull, and produce wire & partner content for FoxNews.com & FoxBusiness.com

• Politics

• Story research

• Assist editors by pitching stories

• Maintain database of contacts and story ideas

• Assist reporters and editors with video editing and blog posts

• SEO

• Researching, writing, and producing multiple assigned short articles a day in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Selecting and adding multimedia features to articles (video, images, slideshows)

• Adhering to detailed article templates and word counts

• Producing compelling photo montages and illustrations

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• One year working in daily breaking news environment

• Ability to work under deadline pressures with editors and reporters

• Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays

• Proven creative mind with a great eye for detail

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER

• A Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications, journalism, graphic arts or other related discipline

• Photoshop, Illustrator and prior experience working in a CMS

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $17.79-18.75 per hour. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
